Deadly Sphere Staff

image

Hardmode, post-Plantera minion-summoning weapon that summons a Deadly Sphere character to fight on the player’s behalf. The Deadly Sphere flies continuously and charges at enemies to inflict damage. It cannot attack through blocks. The Deadly Sphere has several visual forms. It periodically rotates between these forms after it has attacked three times. This has no mechanical effect. It has a 2.5% / 3.75% (1/40 / 3/80) chance to drop from Deadly Spheres during a Solar Eclipse.

Its best Modifier is Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stats bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, Minions cannot deal critical hits. The only significant advantage a Mythical Deadly Sphere Staff has over a Ruthless one is knockback.

Daybreak

The Daybreak is a Hardmode, endgame thrown melee weapon crafted from Solar Fragments obtained from the Lunar Events. It auto-fires projectiles that cost no mana or ammunition. Similar to Bone Javelins, its projectiles are affected by gravity, and stick to enemies to inflict damage over time. Up to 8 projectiles can stick to an enemy at once, with each dealing 25 damage per quarter-second (8 spears x 25 damage = 200 max damage per quarter-second, and 800 max DPS). The spears also emit a good amount of light, making exploration and finding enemies in the dark much easier.

Its best Modifier is Godly.

Clinger Staff

The Clinger Staff is a Hardmode magic weapon that has a 20% chance to be dropped by a Corrupt Mimic. It generates a wall of Cursed Flame, which inflicts the Cursed Inferno debuff and deals damage to any enemy that walks through it. It is similar in use to a Nimbus Rod. The Clinger Staff’s wall lasts for about 45 seconds.

Its best Modifier is Mythical.

  • The Clinger Staff doesn’t work on platforms, only on solid blocks.
  • The wall is 10 blocks high by 1 block wide.
  • Due to the high knockback this weapon is excellent at keeping enemies away from you.
  • The wall can only hit up to 20 times before dissipating.
  • It has the highest mana cost per use out of any magic weapon and will burn through the maximum unmodified mana possible with five uses.
  • The Clinger Staff does not work with either of the set bonuses of the Spectre armor.
  • The Clinger Staff doesn’t work on blocks that have been angled with a hammer.
  • Contrary to the name, Clingers do not drop this item.

Coin Ring

The Coin Ring is a Hardmode accessory created by other accessories acquired from pirate enemies during Pirate Invasion. It causes enemies to occasionally drop coins when hit and increases the pickup range for coins - the two effects provided by the materials used to create it. This can be useful for picking up money the player would otherwise miss and making farms more efficient.

Celebration

The Celebration is a Hardmode post-Moon Lord Launcher that fires two rockets at once (but only consumes one unit of rocket) that travel a short distance before exploding. When the rockets detonate, they display patterns and colors similar to fireworks. It has a 1/9 (11.11%) chance to be dropped by the Moon Lord.

The Celebration has a base 14% critical strike chance as opposed to the usual 4%.

Its best Modifier is Unreal.

Cascade

The Cascade is a yoyo, and is currently the most powerful yoyo available before Hardmode. It can be held out for 16 seconds before it returns, and upon striking an enemy, has a chance to inflict the On Fire! debuff.

The Cascade has a 0.25%, or 1/400, chance of being dropped by any enemy in The Underworld after Skeletron has been defeated. Once Hardmode begins, it will no longer drop, as the stronger Hel-Fire will drop instead.

Its best Modifier is Godly.

Bottomless Waterbucket

The Bottomless Water Bucket is an item that functions similarly to the standard Water Bucket, the only differences being that it can be used an infinite number of times, and that it has a slightly extended range. It is one of the possible rewards from the Angler upon completing one of his fishing quests in Hardmode, with about a 1/70 chance of obtaining it.

Due to its infinite use ability, the player can easily use this item to create artificial lakes much more quickly for fishing, to re-fill the Ocean in case it has drained into Hell, or to turn lava into obsidian.

  • The Super Absorbant Sponge is its counterpart item that removes water.
  • It may still be ideal for someone with the Bottomless Water Bucket to create a water generator, as it can produce Obsidian and Honey Blocks, and it is easier to have a generator.
  • This bucket can be used infinitely by holding the left mouse button down.

Bone Javelin

image

The Bone Javelin is a thrown consumable weapon made using Sturdy Fossils. Upon hitting an enemy, it will stick to the enemy and inflict the Penetrated debuff, dealing 3 damage per second. Up to six Bone Javelins can be pierced onto an enemy, dealing a total of 18 damage a second. Bone Javelins stuck in an enemy will dissipate after 15 seconds. Thrown Bone Javelins can sometimes be recovered if they strike a surface after the 15 second timer or if an enemy dies with Bone Javelins still stuck in them.

  • The Bone Javelin is a powerful pre-Hardmode weapon with its high base damage of 29 and long sticking effect. Combined with Fossil Armor, this weapon could easily two-shot most pre-Hardmode enemies and is still viable in early-Hardmode. However it lacks the piercing ability of the Bone Throwing Knife, making it most effective against single enemies.
  • You can never retrieve Javelins when you have the set bonus of the Fossil armor or Ninja armor.
  • It is considered the pre-Hardmode counterpart of the Daybreak

Bone Glove

The Bone Glove is an Expert Mode-exclusive item that is always obtained from the Treasure Bag dropped by Skeletron. It allows a player to throw two crossed Bones that can bounce off walls two times or pierce two enemies before being destroyed. It consumes one bone per throw and has a 33% chance to not consume any.

Its best Modifier is Unreal, a modifier exclusive to ranged weapons. In spite of this, however, the Bone Glove is unique in that it is a “throwing weapon”- so that means it receives throwing bonuses from Fossil Armor and Ninja Armor, and bonuses to ranged weapons such as the Ranger Emblem will not be applied to it.

If the Bone Glove hits an enemy right next to the player, the amount of damage dealt excludes the bones’ damage, only the Bone Glove’s base damage counts.

Artery

The Artery is a yoyo that can be crafted from Crimtane Bars, which only come from worlds generated with Crimson. It does slightly more damage than its Corruption counterpart, then Malaise.

Its best Modifier is Godly.

Arkhalis

The Arkhalis is an extremely rare melee weapon that appears to be a sword, but behaves unlike any other weapon. It is very rare, only obtainable from the unique background object found in an Enchanted Sword Shrine, each of which has a 33% (1 in 3) chance to contain a “true” breakable sword item rather than a discolored “false” sword. When this item is broken, it has a 10% (1 in 10) chance to drop the Arkhalis rather than an Enchanted Sword. The sword that the item gives is determined at the time the background object is broken, so there is no way to determine which sword the player will be given.

The Arkhalis autoswings, though it does not present an actual blade when used. Instead of an overhead broadsword swing or a shortsword stab, the Arkhalis appears as a series of blurred slashes aimed in the direction of the cursor. Anything within this area takes constant damage at a rate far exceeding the weapon’s stated use time. This damaging area has a rather wide spread, even attacking behind the player for a very short distance.

The Arkhalis’s unique means of attack is unaffected by any size and speed modifiers.

Its best Modifier is Godly.

  • The Arkhalis puts off a large amount of white light-emitting particles for a short distance, making it useful for peeking through cave walls.
  • Though its base damage is low, its high attack speed and multiple attacks per hit make it effective well into Hardmode.
  • Because of its high attack speed and hitting anything around the player it can hit any projectile that can be destroyed before it reaches the player making it fairly useful against the Goblin Summoners Chaos Ball and any other mob/boss with destroyable projectiles.
  • You should balance knockback on this weapon, to keep enemies inside damage zone. Consider using Ruthless Modifierfor pre-hardmode enemies, and Godly or Demonic for hardmode enemies.
  • Due to the fast speed of the Arkhalis combined with the minute knockback, you can easily continuously attack enemies like the Unicorn and keep them in front of you, continuously damaging them but not allowing it to attack you.

Ancient Manipulator

The Ancient Manipulator is a crafting station used to craft items from Luminite and Lunar Fragments. It is dropped by the Lunatic Cultist. When placed, the orb on the manipulator pulsates in the colors of the four celestial towers.

  • Each Lunar Fragment appears to have a Drill, Chainsaw and Hammer variant that are all currently unobtainable.
  • The Ancient Manipulator has a very strange ability to combine three Lunar Fragments of different types to create one fragment of the type that was not used (Ex: Solar+Nebula+Stardust=Vortex). This is useful, because you might be a mage, for example, and you want all the Nebula armor, tools, and weapons, but you don’t have enough Nebula Fragments. Combine all the fragments you got from the other pillars to get more Nebula Fragments.
  • Despite the fact it has red rarity, it has no sell value.

Amber Horseshoe Balloon

The Amber Horseshoe Balloon is an accessory that increases jump height, makes you immune to fall damage, and releases bees when attacked. It can be manually crafted with a Lucky Horseshoe, and a Honey Balloon.

Amber Staff

The Amber Staff is a magic weapon. It functions as a Gem staff, firing a light-emitting projectile that can pierce one enemy.

Its best Modifier is Mythical.

  • Amber Staves are prohibitively difficult to obtain, as they require a Nightmare or Deathbringer Pickaxe to mine the Desert Fossils and an Extractinator to convert them. Other gem types are available much earlier and in higher quantities, and the completed weapon is statistically eclipsed by the Ruby and Diamond staves. By the time a player can complete an Amber Staff, more potent weapons will already be available.

Whoopie Cushion

The Whoopie Cushion is a novelty item that makes a farting sound when used. Its only other use is for crafting. Otherwise, it has no other functional effect other than being a fun novelty item. It has a 2% / 4% (1/50 / 1/25) chance to drop from Giant Worms and Diggers, in the Underground and Cavern layers.

Honeyed Goggles

The Honeyed Goggle summon a friendly Bee Mount that the player can ride. It can fly for a limited time. The bee moves fast while flying, but slows walking speed significantly. It has a 5% (11% in Expert Mode) chance of being dropped by the Queen Bee boss.

The bee always glides down slowly after letting go of the ↷ Jump key, rather than immediately falling. The glide can be accelerated using the ▼ Down key.

When the bee’s flight time is depleted, it enters a “tired” state, during which it slows and glides down. It then requires a 3-second rest period on the ground in order to begin flying at full speed again. If you take off again immediately after landing an exhausted bee, it will fly, but much slower than usual. Its rest period is indicated by a “heavy breathing” animation that stops when the bee is fully recovered.

  • Like most other mounts, the bee will disappear if submerged in water (this mount cannot swim). However, your minions such as those from the Hornet Staff can continue to attack.
  • If the user has any item that allows them to walk on water, the mount will be able to walk on water as well.
  • The bee’s flight time is determined by the players remaining flight/jump time. This includes additional jumps such as those added by the Bundle of Balloons.
  • The bee can stay longer in the air if the player has wings equipped. It can be very useful pre-Hardmode and will even help players in beginning to mid Hardmode because of its hovering ability and long flight time.
  • The bee’s flying speed reaches 31 mph when flying forward according to the Stopwatch. Its walking speed however is only 10 mph.
  • In the mobile version, the Bee Mount has the longest flight time of all the mounts.

Crystal Serpent

The Crystal Serpent is a Hardmode magic weapon that has a chance to be obtained by fishing in the Hallow at the Surface or Underground Layers. It fires a magical pink projectile that shatters into three to five smaller sparks on impact with an enemy or solid block, each of which deals anywhere from half to equal damage to the initial blast. These sparks are affected by gravity and ricochet against solid blocks, lasting one second before disappearing. When fired at a one block thick wall one of the splash projectiles has a chance of passing though to the other side.

Its best Modifier is Mythical.

  • As the Crystal Serpent is acquired by fishing and has no other prerequisites to appear, it can be obtained at the beginning of Hardmode with little effort.

Toxikarp

The Toxikarp is a Hardmode ranged weapon obtained from fishing in The Corruption at any depth. It emits greenish bubbles that travel in the direction aimed for a short distance before ascending rapidly, and can cause the Poisoned debuff. If the bubbles do not strike a creature or a block, they will eventually ascend into space. The bubbles can pass through platforms without breaking. If the bubbles come into contact with water, they will instantly start to ascend. The Toxikarp does not require any ammunition.

Its best Modifier is Unreal.

  • As it doesn’t require ammunition, has decent damage output, and can be obtained as soon as you beat Wall of Flesh, the Toxikarp can be a great sidearm well into Hardmode.

Bladetongue

The Bladetongue is a Hardmode sword that has a 0.5% (1:200) chance of being caught while fishing in the Crimson. When it strikes an enemy, ichor streams are fired on an upwards arch, penetrating and damaging multiple enemies, bouncing against solid blocks, and applying the Ichor Debuff.

Its best Modifier is Legendary.

  • The Ichor stream will bounce 2 times and will disappear once hitting a 3rd block. If the stream does not hit any blocks, it will last for approximately 2 seconds.
  • The sword itself also inflicts the Ichor debuff, and can be used in conjunction with other weapon imbues.
